Fees and Charges
We like to keep payments simple and transparent. Here’s a clear breakdown of the fees you can expect when working on our platform. Our payment gateways are Local Bank Transfer and Stripe.
Join & Trial Period
Freelancers can join our platform free for the first 3 months to explore top projects, showcase their skills and connect with clients seeking high-quality talent. This is our way of welcoming you and helping you build a strong relationship with us. A win-win situation for clients too, giving them access to a pool of motivated professionals ready to take on engaging, high-paying projects.
After the trial, freelancers can select a subscription plan that fits their needs, continuing to receive support and access exciting opportunities from thousands of clients across various categories.
Tip: Make the most of your trial! Try out different projects, sharpen your skills and find the gigs that excite you so that you’re ready to thrive when you switch to a paid plan.
Service Fee
A small 7% service fee is applied to each completed project or job payment. This helps us cover secure transactions, payment protection, administrative costs, and customer support. If you have an active subscription (membership) with us, the fee is reduced to 5%.
Example: If you complete a project for $200, you’ll receive $186 after the 7% service fee is applied.
Client Payment Fees
When clients pay, a processing fee is added to cover charges from our payment partners. Fees vary depending on the method:
- Credit/Debit Cards (via Stripe): Around 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction (may vary by country, card type etc).
- Stripe Wallets & Local Methods: Stripe also supports Apple Pay, Google Pay, and certain regional wallets, with similar processing fees.
- Other Gateways: Charges may differ depending on the provider and your location
Withdrawals (For Freelancers)
We offer the Stripe withdrawal method only. As part of our compliance with financial regulations, we require a valid government-issued photo ID from you. All freelancers using our platform must complete a one-time verification process before requesting any withdrawals. Please follow the steps below to verify your identity and set up your payout method through Stripe:
Step 1 - To upload your ID:
a) Log into your iWriterly account and go to: https://iwriterly.net/login
b) Click ‘Identity Verification’ on the menu.
Accepted documents include:
- Passport
- National ID Card
- Driver’s License
Step 2 - Connect Your Stripe Account
After your ID is uploaded, complete the onboarding process through Stripe – our secure payment partner. To begin Stripe onboarding, navigate to your Stripe Connected Account unique link (we will provide you this link).
Stripe will verify your identity and securely collect your payout details so you can receive funds directly to your bank account. Please note the follwoing:
- Both steps are mandatory before you can request a withdrawal.
- This is a one-time setup.
- All data is encrypted and handled securely in compliance with international financial regulations.
Early Withdrawal Rules and Fees:
- Funds held for at least 2 weeks: no administrative fee, but a Standard Withdrawal Fee applies to cover payment gateway costs.
- Funds withdrawn earlier than 2 weeks: a Standard Withdrawal Fee applies, plus an additional 2% to cover administrative costs.
Example: If you withdraw $500 before 2 weeks, and your Standard Withdrawal Fee is $3, the total fee will be: $3 + ($500 × 2%) = $3 + $10 = $13 in total.
Refunds & Chargebacks
- Refunds: Some gateways (like Stripe or PayPal) do not return their processing fee when a refund is issued.
- Chargebacks: If a client disputes a payment, the bank may apply a chargeback fee, which could be deducted from the freelancer’s balance.
Currency Conversion
If you or your client use different currencies, Stripe, PayPal, or your payout provider will set the exchange rate and may include a conversion fee.
Transparency First
Fees may vary by country, currency, and payment provider. If anything changes, we’ll notify you in advance and update this page.
We’re also looking to add more payment gateways in the future to make things even easier. Freelancers and clients can suggest new options anytime through our Contact Us form – we’d love to hear your input.
Note: All fees, charges, and conversion rates are subject to change and may vary depending on third-party providers. Since these are determined by payment gateways such as Stripe, PayPal, and banks, they are beyond our direct control. For the most up-to-date information, please refer to the official fee pages of your chosen payment provider.
